Gerry
Halpin's work is inspired by texture. A fascination for crumbling
walls and suface fissures was the inspiration for his Fragments
Series.
He
is an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
Has exhibited at the Laing Landscape Exhibition, Salford;
Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Mall Galleries,
London; Bolton Art Gallery, Tib Lane Gallery, Manchester;
British Society of Painters, Ilkley, Barry Keene Gallery,
Henley and the Warwick Gallery, Maidenhead.
His paintings vary from traditional realism to the abstract.
His recent collection of work was inspired by a visit to Australia
and the Indian continent. The shapes are evocative of the
coastal landscape viewed from the air; the colours representing
golden beaches, burnt earth, deep and sometimes tourquoise
seas. Some of Gerry's more realistic views of Manchester were
exhibited at The Gallery at The Lowry Hotel until 30th January
2007 in 'My Town, My City'.
