Now in stock – a lovely collection of Shirley’s still life work. All in the jewel-like colours that we have come to expect from her. What a fabulous way to add colour to your home!

Shirley was born in Rochdale and spent some of her younger years in Italy. Although she has lived in Cheshire for the past 30 years, Italy has had a lasting effect, influencing her love of colour and vibrancy.

She always loved art from her earliest years but for practical reasons, was unable to follow her personal preference to study art full time. She has since turned back to painting and with some tutoring and her own instincts she now creates distinctive works sparkling with sunshine and colour.

Both in her landscapes and in her still-life paintings she uses bright and contrasting colours. She builds up her work using a layering technique which includes collage, acrylic paint and gouache. In many of her paintings, colours appear through other contrasting colours to show the layers beneath. Pattern is also a vital component, many still life designs featuring gold, and some using intricate textile effects. Her aim is to create the stimulating brilliance which she feels the medium suggests and deserves.

Shirley has exhibited her work in several private galleries throughout the North West of England and her paintings can be found in private collections as far afield as Canada, America and Australia.

Most of Shirley’s paintings are in the 38 x 38 cm format and at present are priced at £500-550
